Every person is unique. We all have traits but they are not what define us. A lot of people are able to understand the value in therapeutic massage but, unfortunately, find themselves concerned or even intimidated with the thought of exposing their body with whatever traits they may have. It is all good and well for me to say "Don't worry about it" when that alone does not alleviate the concern.
First, please understand
that I am not concerned with anything but your comfort. I know that your body
does not define you. If you feel you are overweight, underweight, out of shape
or otherwise uncomfortable in your own skin please know that I understand. There
is never a need to undress beyond a level that leaves you comfortable and being
judgmental is just not in my nature. This can prove to be a safe haven for anyone who is actively working on self acceptance issues. Nudity is certainly not a requirement
for a good massage and it is not expected of you. Only that you are comfortable.
As well as being a massage therapist, I am also a final semester nursing student (RN program) and have been exposed to, and am comfortable with, a variety of conditions. Some of these I may even be able to help you with. Don't be concerned about getting a massage if you have an ostomy, an amputation, burns, or any other non contagious condition. Your comfort is my priority. There is therapeutic value in knowing that you can feel good about who you are on the outside in a non- judgemental atmosphere.
